Think in Lines, Not Clusters
CritterMatch only clears matches in the same line, so diagonal daydreams do not count. Scan rows and columns for pairs waiting for one more critter, and set up your swaps to complete lines, not blobs.
Cascades Do the Heavy Lifting
Matches near the bottom drop new critters into fresh lines above. In CritterMatch, one bottom-row swap can trigger a chain of automatic matches. Always play the lowest useful move and let gravity work for you.
