Ten minutes later you are sweating over a 1024 tile with the board almost full. 2048 is the sliding puzzle that took over the internet — merge matching numbers, double them, and chase the legendary 2048 tile. How to Play 2048
Slide all tiles in one direction with your arrow keys. Every tile slides as far as it can go, and matching numbers merge into their sum: 2 + 2 becomes 4, 4 + 4 becomes 8, and so on. After every move a new 2 or 4 appears. The game ends when the board fills with no merges left. Reach the 2048 tile and you win — then keep going for higher tiles if you dare.
Controls
Arrow keys (or WASD) to slide up, down, left, or right. On touch screens, swipe in the direction you want the tiles to go.
The Corner Strategy (How Winners Play)
Pick a corner and never leave it. Keep your biggest tile pinned in one corner — bottom-left is popular. Build your tiles in descending order away from it.
Never slide up into your corner. One wrong move pops your big tile out of the corner and ruins the whole setup.
Think in chains. Line up 2-4-8-16-32 in a row so every merge feeds the next one automatically.
Slow down at 512. Past this point, one careless slide can end the game. Plan every move.
Merge small tiles first. Clear the little numbers before they clog the board.
